About
I’m a stay-at-home mom living in Utah. I love to cook, bake, teach and do yoga, read, listen to music, laugh with friends and watch really funny movies. Sometimes all at once.
Months ago, I began this blog to keep track of all the recipes I’ve developed. You’ll find this under the “Recipes” tab. While some others have better versions of these recipes, I just want to have a record to give my children. And friends. And family. And interested aquaintances.
Since ingredients and tools make a huge difference, under the “Cooking” tab you’ll find my reviews and recommendations.
As I have developed this blog, I also wanted to way to share my enthusiasm for local products and companies found here in Utah. Another tab called “Buy Utah” features some of these local places and products. I am a big fan of supporting local businesses and encourage the reader to seek out their local product offerings first whenever possible.
An important side-note: I have resolved to only feature items I have purchased myself to keep my opinions unbiased.
Under my “Blog” tab, I’ll also share my attempts at living a distilled life: one that focuses on meaningful priorities over simply being busy. I love to hear your comments and feedback, so please share your ideas!
Where did I get the name for my blog? Distillation describes the process of separating the desirable parts of a liquid from unwanted material. Heat and/or pressure is usually involved. Chemical plants and refineries use this process to purify a material. For example, it allows us to obtain automobile gasoline from crude oil. Since I’m a scientist at heart, the concept of distillation always fascinated me. It was an interesting analogy to life: sometimes you have to endure a few uncomfortable moments to get to the best part.
Welcome and happy living!
